jus·ti·fi·ca·tion

noun

-the action of showing something to be right or reasonable.

— -/ —

What once was shameful is now accepted.

What once was embarrassment is now ideal.

What once was ego is now leadership.

What once was dishonesty is now smart business.

What once was never is now repeated.

— -/ — -

Humans can justify anything if we tell ourselves different over time. Our mind, the greatest (or maybe weakest) tool we have to deceive self. It can convince you of anything if we allow the slow drip to work unattended to.

Anything can become justified.

And so it is … again. A man the majority of Americans laughed at 10–15 yrs ago in every respect (as it was justified due to his actions) is now somehow THE choice among all other options. He’s somehow the bright shining pinnacle of western democracy. The defender of freedom. His past (and current) unsavory actions now justified; viewed as necessary, right … even courageous despite glaring inconsistencies and hypocrisy when held next to the virtues.

My fear for the heart of America isn’t tied to a Democrat or Republican. It’s not tied to an agenda of the oil lobby, EPA, LGBTQ community, big pharma, Russia or China. My fear is that we have willingly swallowed the pill of justification to support a man that is the antithesis of honorable leadership.

If we (the majority of voters put him in again), we confirm to our children that these are our values: belittle, brag, divide, coerce, use, manipulate and bulldoze as long as the result is best for self.

These are NOT the values that a great country is built it. This is NOT what I was taught.

So right your mind. Hold fast to what is good and right. Don’t allow a man to hold your hope and control your fear. Remember who you were before. Clean your house of the oil spill of justification.

You still have a choice. Who will you choose?
